UNDER CURRENTS

UNDER CURRENTS by Nora Roberts I have read the book UNDERCURRENTS.  Like all of NoraRoberts books, I really enjoyed this book. I think the style was different from other books she has written. There were multiple stories and the times passed in the  lives of her characters. But those things did not hurt the story

At one point Darby says she wonders if there are just unlucky people in life or something like that. It seemed that something bad followed her. It is a true thought because the horrible things did keep happening. Between the two of them, Zane and Darby, they were doomed. 

I almost wish Nora Roberts would have made this book two or three separate books. I really do enjoy her writing. I know I didn’t go over the plot yet. 

It would really take a while because of all of the stories involved.

Zane was a very abused child who gets out with his sister, Britt.  He became a lawyer and Britt became a counselor. Zane moves away but eventually comes home and the bad luck follow when he’s back. Darby is an abused wife who gets out. There are many more characters and many plot turns. As i said it would fill a couple pages. 

I would handsell and/or recommend. 

THE BOOK WOMAN OF TROUBLESOME CREEK

I really enjoyed this book. I was not born during the CCC or WPA era but I have been to the hills of Eastern Kentucky. In fact my son married a girl from there and they live there now. The hills over there are treacherous. The roads are bad, t can’t imagine paths thru the mountains.

I knew that Roosevelt did many things to help our country. My father worked for the TVA, another program of that time, but I was not familiar with the Book Women. I had heard of the Blue People and read articles about them. cussie Mary was a Blue person. People did not accept people of different color. And Cussie was no different. She was of color.  She became a Book Womanonly by going around the two very prejudice librarians. Book Woman’s patrons looked forward to her visits each week

The hardships, the prejudice, the unkind actions are described in the book. It was very interesting. And I learned more from the story. Michele’s words bring pictures into my mind. She has a way with words. I would definitely recommend this book.

THE STRANGER ON THE BEACH

STRANGER ON THE BEACH by Michele Campbell was very good. The twists were unforeseen. Caroline and Jason has a daughter, Hannah. Jason has been traveling more than usual and Caroline is fearing he is having an affair. Jason swears he is not. Now,, I truly believe that this is quite a show especially when Jason comes to his housewarming party with a very made-up woman on his am. If Jason is so good looking why would he go for someone like that?  Well, on with the story.  Jason and Caroline split after the party and Caroline meets a young handsome man who would follow her like a puppy dog. She has an affair with Aiden. As the story goes on I found it went into two people giving different explanations of the same incident. I was an bit confused at first. Caroline was setting one of the men up for murder so she could get a big life insurance pay out. Good book. No spoilers from me. I would definitely suggest this book for Indies Next.

STARTS WITH A KISS

I hated the ending. Was this the entire book?  If it was I need an ending.  Dudie and Barrett shared an apartment. They didn’t know each other before this. They both traveled and were away for long periods of time. Dudie traveled for work and I thought Barrett did, also. It never actually states that. Barrett is quite the ladies man, but only married woman. And there are many in the complex. But when one of Barrett’s conquests Find him involved with another woman connie slide into Dudie’s bed. Many times Dudie and Connie get together. After this encounter all of the men think Dudie is the Romeo. The men decide to get even with Dudie. The residents gathered frequently around the pool at the complex. Dudie is shunned by the men. But he does make a friend named Candy. She is just out to make Dudie help her make time with Barrett bu remember he only goes for married women. Wow there is so much going on in this story that it would be a long review. Just buy the book. It is a good book. I just do not like endings that are so open unless I know there WILL be a next book.

THE FIRST MISTAKE by Sandie Jones

Alice has a hard time accepting that her husband has died but a body was never found.  That is until she meets Nathan. He is so supportive and encouraging. He is a dream come true until he becomes a nightmare. Alice suspects Nathan of cheating. She talks to the only person she can trust, her friend Beth.  Alice asks Nathan about all of the suspicious things happening but he always has a believable explanation until Nathan and Beth meet, then the suspense heightens. A must read.

LITTLE DARLINGS

LITTLE DARLINGS by Melanie Golding is a book that I would recommend to my customers. If you enjoy a little fairy tale with your novel this is it. Lauren knows that something supernatural is happening to her twins. No one else believes her. Everyone thinks she is having a psychological break down. Until Joanna Harper, police sergeant, comes to talk to her. Jo doesn’t know why but she believes Lauren. Jo’s boss won’t let her pursue this case. He thinks it’s a waste of money. And another question comes up. Is Patrick, Lauren’s husband, involved in this farce that Lauren is in?

AN ANONYMOUS GIRL By Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen

AN ANONYMOUS GIRL started out very slow. It was hard to get into until almost halfway through. Jessica is a make-up artist with a company called BeautyBuzz. She visits her clients at their home or office. Jess has a disabled sister that she helps her parents take care of financially. She sees a paper with an appointment for a psychological study paying $500 at a client’s home. Hoping the client will not show up for the appointment, Jessica goes instead. She becomes involved with the psychologist, Dr. Shields and her husband. Dr. Shields is not doing this study to further her work but for personal reasons. At first, Jessica does not know what Dr Shields is up to but quickly realizes that she has become entrapped in Dr.  Shields web. Jessica cannot get out without using Dr. Shields own tricks. The book got more interesting toward the middle to the end. I would have given it a 3 1/2 if that had been an option. Quick read the first part to get on into the book. It is interesting at the end. Must find out how Dr. Shields and her husband get their payback.
