TRY NOT TO BREATHE by Holly Seddon

Very interesting book.  Amy was atacked and nearly beaten to death.  She is in a coma but can she tell those investigating who did it?  Dr Haynes has been experimenting with comatose patients to discover if there is brain activity.  doe he find activity in Amy's brain.  Did she knowthe person who beat her?  And the underlying story finds Alex, a journaist, trying to get a great story to work her way back into the newspaper businees.  She was fired from her job due to her drinking.  how much will she lose before she finds her way out?  The experiments on the patients in chronic vegetative states was intersting.  I hope one day this can come true.

BOURBON KiNGS by J R Ward

I really liked this book.  I hated to see it end.  I can't wait for the next one.  Lizzie finds herself being sucked in again.  Can she resist?  Lane has hurt her once so she must be strong and stay away from him now that he's back and MARRIED.  With the festivities of the derby coming up, there are more troubles uncovered. Lane must face all of these, but will he have to face them alone or will his family or Lizzie be by his side?

PRETTY GIRLS by Karin Slaughter

I really did have trouble putting this book down.  I guessed after a bit of reading that Paul was the culprit but didn't see how far reaching it could be.  Claire had always been a quiet girl but didn't realize her husband, Paul, was actually controlling her.  He was so upstanding wealthy and brought so much to her life.  More to her life than she could ever imagine.  But he took her family away from her.  When Claire finally sees him as his true self, she is totally shocked. How could she be so blind?  Great book and it's as good as Gillian Flynn's GONE GIRL.

KILLING LESSONS By Saul Black

Wow.  If you like blood and gore, this book is for you.  Leon was learning challenged but no one ever really cared.  His grandmother tried to teach him his ABC's but he couldn't learn them so she engraved them on his body.  Oh yeah!  He then tried to learn them and show by killing women and inserting items with the beginning letters in their mouths.  The police officers had a very difficult time finding him because he left the bodies all over the country.  He was caught but the story to how is the important part.  The brains and strength of the officers were amazing as was the underlying story of who was trying to frame detective Valerie.  Good story a bit too much gore for me.

COBWEBS by Mary Coley

I enjoyed the  book, COBWEBS, by Mary Coley very much.  There was plenty of suspense, great descriptions, and excellent characterization.  When her great aunt calls Jamie to come to her! Jamie leaves immediately.  But, before Elizabeth can tell Jamie what she thinks is very important, someone tries to kill Elizabeth. Everyone seems to love Elizabeth, so who can it be?  I never had a suspicion of who the culprit was.  I would have liked to get to know Elizabeth better.  She must have been a great aunt.

AFTER THE STORM by Linda Castillo

I really enjoyed this book.  I especially liked that there was not a lot of lead in at the beginning.  The action started right off the bat.  Although, I guessed who the culprit was, the story kept me involved the whole time.  With two stories going on at once, I sometimes get them mixed up but this was not confusing at all. Very interesting book.  Thank you for the ARC.  I will put this into indie next.

THE PATRIOT THREAT

THE PATRIOT THREAT by Steve Berry is an historical fiction.  Events from the Roosevelt era are referenced in abundance.  There was animosity between Roosevelt and Mellon.  Although, they were enemies they were more alike than Roosevelt knew.  Mellon tried to get Roosevelt to listen to his advice but Roosevelt wouldn't.  Mellon then, gave Roosevelt a mystery to solve to show him this.  Roosevelt never solved it but many men have tried to in years past.  But leave it to "Cotton" Malone and he'll figure it out.  But what will they do with the solution is the question. It could change the world forever.  Good read and historical events are accurate
